Android is a Linux based operating system designed for touch screen mobiles such as tablets and smart phones. Android operating system was developed by Android.Inc but later on Google bought this company in 2005. Android was unveiled in 2007 and the first smartphone based on Android was released in 2008
Android has a large bunch of developers. In 2012 android has about 700,000 applications in its app store and in 2012 October 25 billion application were downloaded. This was really big numbers of downloads but android introduces new operating system named Jelly Bean this operating system had made people attractive to toward the operating system with high speed with voice recognition system and with many other features.

History of Android:
Android was founded in Palo Alto, California in October 2003 by Andy Rubin. The first intentions of the company were to develop an operating system for cameras but when Rubin saw the market was running out of the mobiles and they started making smart operating system for mobiles. On 17 august 2005 google owned this company and android was known at that time but after some time people assumed that google is trying to make an operating system for smartphones but later android released its first operating system in 2008 and start leading and till now even apple has not even beaten android in the market android is still leading.
